Shop Update: Crayon Rolls

I hope everyone is having a great first day back to school!! I know it's hard for all you mommies of Kindergarteners, but just think about how much fun they are having! I know I'll be a mess when my kids start school. I cried when Bobby started Mother's Day Out last year!

I finally sat down in front of my sewing machine and made a bunch of crayon rolls for the shop! I thought it was fitting for the start of the school year. Stop by and see if anything catches your eye!

One of my favorites for girls!

So fun for a little boy!

I heart skulls!

I just love this print by Ann Kelle. So bright and cheerful!

Tutorial: Framed Fabric Silhouette

I'm not completely out of my sewing funk yet, but I did do a bit of crafting recently. Ever since my daughter was born (10 1/2 whole months ago...WOW!) I've been struggling with what to put on her walls in the nursery. I just haven't found anything. When my sister showed me a simple way to make a silhouette, I came up with a cute idea that I wanted to share with you!

Framed Fabric Silhouettes!

This is a great way to personalize the room, plus it adds a splash of color. How great would these be as Christmas or birthday gifts?? It's really very fast and easy!

Gather your supplies:

Profile picture of your choice
Black construction paper
Pencil
Scissors
Double Stick Tape
Fabric and picture frame of your choice

Place the picture on top of the black paper (use tape to keep in place if you would like). Using your pencil, trace around the profile, so you know where to cut. Cut around the profile following the pencil line, cutting both the picture and the black paper.

After you cut, you now have a nice silhouette! Toss the picture and put a few pieces of tape on the back of the black silhouette. Place on a pretty piece of fabric of your choice (cut the fabric to fit the frame, first**).

Place in the frame and your done!

I used four different silhouettes to make it fun and interesting. I plan on clustering them together on a blank wall in Lily's room.

Now go! Take some profile pictures and make one (or two!) of your very own!

**I cut the fabric slightly larger than the frame, so when I put on the back of the frame, it stayed in place better.

Sewing slump...

It seems that I have hit a sewing slump lately. Does that ever happen to you? I don't know if it is because it is summer time or what, but I just do. not. want. to. sew. If you know me, that is crazy talk!! The fact that my son is working on dropping his nap doesn't help either. His naps are usually when I do my crafting. That little stinker!

I have so many projects waiting to be made. Every year I make most of my Christmas gifts, and this year I do not want to disapoint! This year I am undertaking my biggest project to date! If I want to complete all my gifts in time, I need to get started ASAP. But I just can't work up the energy....hopefully I will get started next week. I wish I could share what I will be making, but I don't want to spoil the surprise for my family!

I've recently joined Pintrest. It's my new addiction, and it is motivating me to get in front of the machine and create something! I have found so many project ideas on there.

Here are just some of my favorites:

I have the perfect fabric for this! The pattern can be found here.

Fabric matching game. Genius! Some people are just so creative. Bobby is getting really good at games like this, so I really want to make this soon. Pattern here.

I love this oven mitt! It would make such a great gift. Can't wait to make it!

I saw these pillows when I was pregnant with Lily, and just knew I wanted to make them for her someday. How cute are they?!

Look. At. This. Dress. I can't get enough of it!! You can get the PDF pattern here. I love the fabric used for this dress. It is so happy! I can't wait for Lily to get older so I can make it for her.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again...some people are so creative! I can hardly stand it. I hope to come out of my slump and get back to sewing soon, so keep checking my blog and my shop for updates!

Father's Day Basketball

Lately Rob has been saying how he wants to start showing Bobby how to dribble the ball. I thought it would be fun to give him a personalized basketball from Bobby so they could get started!

It turned out so cute!

Concentrating VERY hard...

Messy hands!!

After the handprints dried, I wrote on the ball with a paint pen.

Can't wait to give his surprise to Daddy!

He is so proud!

Happy Father's Day to my hubby, my daddy, step-dad and my father-in-law!
